Here’s what I’ve learned so far today.
- A woman was shot by someone working for ICE while driving past the murdered. The murderer shot through the edge of her front window and her driver’s side window.
- Kristy Noem is lying about what happened. The ICE officer was not hit. Was not injured. Did not offer aid to the woman he shot. And fled the scene.
- Fellow ICE officers did not provide aid to the women ICE murdered, and they prevented a doctor who was a bystander from providing aid.
- ICE continued to terrorize South Minneapolis families following the murder with abductions from schools and daycares throughout the day.
Here’s what will probably happen next.
- Protests and riots will happen during the time between when a member of law enforcement murdered someone on camera and when the murderer is finally arrested. Sound familiar? ICE could prevent riots by taking quick action to hold their murderer accountable, but they won’t.
- White nationalists from across the country will begin driving to Minneapolis. Someone will likely get hurt or killed by someone who’s inspired by the rhetoric from Noem, other folks in the White House, and their online apologists.
- Minneapolis residents will be out on the streets, working to protect their neighbors. While driving down Lake Street today, there were people with whistles at every corner from 35W to Hiawatha. People in a position to protect neighbors will take action to do so.
